Children on the spectrum generally have underlined feeding and swallowing issues that go undiagnosed. Some of these issues include aversions to textures, tastes and smells, avoiding certain food groups, sensory processing issues, oral-motor delays, overall difficulties with eating and drinking, and mealtime behaviors -all which make it difficult to feed them. They often lose trust with their primary feeder, refuse to take oral medications and supplements, which compromise their nutrition, hydration and their ability to learn.
